State Secretary Sofiane Chaib Presides Over Interactive Virtual Meeting with the National Community Residing in Australia

State Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, presided today via video conference over an interactive meeting with members of the national community residing in Australia, joined by the Ambassador of Algeria to Canberra. This event falls within the framework of ongoing communication with the various segments of the diaspora, in implementation of the directives issued by the country's supreme authorities aimed at strengthening the state's bond with its citizens abroad and listening closely to their concerns and aspirations.
On this occasion, the State Secretary highlighted the unique character of the national community's presence in Australia, considering the geographical distance and the deep ties linking this region to national memory through the descendants of Algerians exiled to New Caledonia during the colonial era, some of whom subsequently settled in Australia due to geographical proximity. He also underscored the community's rich talent pool of students, experts, and entrepreneurs, emphasizing the importance of valuing this human capital, enhancing its contribution to national development, and leveraging its role in fostering bilateral relations between Algeria and Australia.
Furthermore, the State Secretary reiterated the ongoing commitment to advancing efforts aimed at bringing consular services closer to community members, reinforcing their protection and connection to the homeland, and providing favorable conditions for their participation and contribution to the national development process.
The meeting served as a dynamic platform for dialogue and interaction with members of the community, providing an opportunity to listen to their concerns and priorities while benefiting from their insights and proposals. In this regard, the State Secretary urged attendees to maintain constant communication with the Embassy of Algeria in Canberra and to rally around it, affirming the firm commitment to integrating the outcomes of this gathering—alongside those emerging from various consultative meetings with the diaspora—into the refinement of targeted programs and initiatives that adequately respond to the aspirations of all segments while accommodating their diverse needs and specificities.
