On Margins of UNGA: Minister of State Ahmed Attaf Participates in Meeting on "Security and Development in the Sahel", Reaffirming Algeria's Commitment to Regional Stability

On the sidelines of his activities within the framework of the High-Level Week proceedings of the Eighty-First Session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, participated in a meeting dedicated to the theme "Security and Development in the Sahel: The Case of the Confederation of Sahel States."

In an address delivered on this occasion, the Minister of State recalled the profound historical ties binding Algeria to its Sahelian neighboring countries, as well as its firm commitment to supporting the bonds of brotherhood, solidarity, good neighborliness, and cooperation across all fields of mutual interest, in alignment with the aspirations of the region's peoples for development, stability, and prosperity.

The Minister of State emphasized Algeria's steadfast and clear commitment to respecting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Sahel countries, alongside their right to determine the means to ensure their security and development in cooperation with their partners, free from any external interference.

Mr. Ahmed Attaf also highlighted the comprehensive approach long advocated by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which is grounded in the close interlinkage between security and development to address the multidimensional challenges facing the countries of the region, with the aim of advancing decisively and effectively toward a promising future for the region as a whole.
