Minister of State Ahmed Attaf Receives Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár and Signs Bilateral Cooperation Agreement

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received today, September 9, 2026, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Juraj Blanár, who is paying an official visit to Algeria on September 8 and 9, 2026. This visit comes within the framework of strengthening the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and partnership linking Algeria and Slovakia, and continuing political dialogue and consultation on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

On this occasion, the Minister of State held one-on-one talks with his Slovak counterpart before the discussions expanded to include members of both countries' delegations. These talks provided an opportunity to review various aspects of bilateral relations, assess the level of existing cooperation, and explore ways to give it a fresh impetus, particularly in priority fields such as energy, higher education and scientific research, industry, water resource management, and investment promotion.

In this context, both sides reaffirmed their shared determination to continue working toward cementing Algerian-Slovak relations and elevating them to broader horizons, matching the potential available in both countries and serving their mutual interests.

The discussions also addressed a number of current regional and international issues of mutual concern, alongside ways to enhance coordination and consultation between the two nations regarding matters on the regional and international arenas.

Following the talks, the two ministers signed a bilateral agreement establishing a joint commission to frame bilateral cooperation and impart a new dynamic to it, in addition to a memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Diplomatic and International Relations Institute and the Slovak Diplomatic Academy.
