Minister of State Ahmed Attaf Receives Dutch Counterpart Tom Berendsen at Ministry Headquarters

Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received today, at the Ministry's headquarters, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Tom Berendsen, who is paying a working visit to Algeria on 2 and 3 November 2026.
This visit falls within the framework of sustaining political dialogue between the two sides and reflects their shared commitment to reinforcing the momentum characterizing bilateral relations between the two countries.
On this occasion, the Minister of State held one-on-one talks with his Dutch counterpart, followed by an expanded working session involving members of both delegations. These discussions allowed for a review of the state of historical friendship and cooperation ties binding the two countries for over four centuries, as well as an exploration of avenues to elevate them toward broader horizons, aligning with their joint aspirations and restoring vigor and dynamism to bilateral cooperation.
In this context, both sides agreed on the necessity of taking concrete steps to impart renewed vitality into bilateral relations, notably by activating cooperation mechanisms—led by the Joint Committee for Economic and Technological Cooperation and Political Consultations—updating and strengthening the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, and encouraging engagement between business communities to enhance economic partnership between the two nations.
The meeting also addressed potential cooperation opportunities in priority sectors, particularly energy, renewable energy, water resources, agriculture, and the agrifood industry. Furthermore, both sides exchanged views on deepening dialogue and coordination regarding migration and consular affairs.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange perspectives on key regional and international issues of common concern.
