Minister of State Ahmed Attaf Meets Newly Elected OIC Secretary-General in Jeddah

On the sidelines of his participation in the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States, held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on August 27, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, met with the newly elected Secretary-General of the OIC, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

The Minister of State extended his warm congratulations to the Secretary-General elect on his appointment, wishing him full success in his new duties, while reiterating Algeria's full support to enable him to fulfill his mandate effectively.

Both officials reviewed the current state of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and its future prospects, stressing the importance of enhancing its performance and role in addressing contemporary challenges. They emphasized strengthening the OIC's capacity to serve the interests of member states and defend their just causes—foremost among them the Palestinian cause—in alignment with the founding principles and objectives of the Organisation, and to bolster unity and solidarity across the Islamic world.
