Brussels: MFA Secretary General Lounes Magramane Co-Chairs 6th Session of Political Consultations with Belgian Counterpart

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lounes Magramane, co-chaired today, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Brussels, Belgium, alongside his Belgian counterpart, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation, Ms. Theodora Gentzis, the proceedings of the 6th session of Algerian-Belgian political consultations.

The proceedings of this session allowed for a review of the state of Algerian-Belgian relations across their various dimensions and axes, as well as discussing ways and means to ensure the realization of the outcomes of the visit paid by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, to Brussels on March 31 and April 1, 2026. This is in harmony with the positive dynamic recently witnessed in bilateral relations and the considerable potentials possessed by both countries.

In this context, the two parties emphasized the necessity of bolstering economic, investment, commercial, and technical cooperation between the two countries to rise to the level of shared aspirations, notably in the fields of energy, agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, transport and port services, health, social security, education, and training. The importance of boosting trade exchanges and encouraging productive investments toward consolidating the existing economic partnership was also underlined.

These consultations likewise provided an opportunity to exchange views and analyses on numerous regional and international issues of mutual concern, notably the evolution of the situation in the Middle East—foremost among which is the Palestinian question—as well as the Sahel-Saharan region and Western Sahara.
