National Day of the Algerian Muslim Scouts 27 May 1941-2024
Set up in 2021 by the President of the Republic, this commemoration, which takes place on May 27 every year, marks the 83rd anniversary of the death, as a martyr, of Mohamed Bouras, the founder of the Algerian Muslim Scout movement (AMS), who was executed by french colonialism on May 27, 1941.
He left a legacy of militancy and federation, convinced that the struggle for independence required a people conscience, educated and armed with knowledge.
The Algerian Muslim Scouts played a crucial role in preparing and training the pioneers of the Algerian national movement. Many heroes of the Liberation War, such as Larbi Ben M'hidi, Zighoud Youcef and Didouche Mourad, were members of the AMS. These Scouts also actively participated in the demonstrations of May 8, 1945, which marked a decisive turning point in the struggle for independence.
