On Margins of UNGA: Minister of State Ahmed Attaf Meets Libyan Acting Foreign Minister Taher Al-Baour

Within the framework of his participation in the proceedings of the high-level segment of the Eighty-First Session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, met with Mr. Taher Salem Al-Baour, Chargé d'Affaires of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting touched upon the latest developments in Libya and efforts aimed at advancing the political process, thereby paving the way for restoring security and stability in Libya.

On this occasion, the Minister of State reiterated Algeria's steadfast position supporting Libya's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasizing the necessity of achieving a comprehensive political settlement to the Libyan crisis based on the principle of Libyan leadership and ownership of the political process, alongside safeguarding the unity of the state and its institutions, in response to the aspirations of the sisterly Libyan people for stability and prosperity.

The two parties also agreed on the need to intensify consultation and coordination, and to reinforce joint efforts to confront common challenges prevailing in the Sahel-Saharan region, with a view to contributing to cementing the pillars of peace, security, and stability across the entire region.
