New York: Minister of State Ahmed Attaf Receives ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger

Continuing his activities within the framework of his working visit to New York, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger. The meeting touched upon ways and means to deepen bilateral cooperation in fields related to promoting respect for international humanitarian law, alongside the challenges posed by new technologies and the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, as well as those associated with the application of international humanitarian law in naval warfare.

The talks also addressed ongoing preparations ahead of the high-level international conference dedicated to the theme "Preserving Humanity in War," scheduled to convene in Jordan in December 2026. This conference falls within the framework of the global initiative aimed at enhancing adherence to international humanitarian law, under which Algeria co-chairs—alongside Slovenia, Sierra Leone, and Costa Rica—the dedicated working group on the protection of civilian infrastructure.
