Minister of State Ahmed Attaf Participates in Cairo in Arab Ministerial Committee Meeting on Occupied Jerusalem

On the sidelines of his participation in the 166th Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, held in Cairo today, September 7, 2026, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, took part in the 11th meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee Charged with International Action to Confront Illegal Israeli Policies and Measures in Occupied Jerusalem.

The meeting took place amidst escalating Israeli aggressions and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Qods Al-Sharif, along with growing threats targeting the Palestinian presence in the Holy City, including attempts to alter its legal, historical, and demographic status.

The meeting provided an opportunity to follow up on the progress made in implementing the recommendations from the previous meeting, held on August 5, 2026, in Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The session culminated in the adoption of a statement emphasizing the necessity of uniting Arab and international efforts to end Israeli aggressions and violations in occupied Jerusalem.

The statement reaffirmed the importance of continued mobilization across all levels to extend the requisite support to the Palestinian people and Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem, enabling them to counter Israeli policies and practices aimed at altering the city's character, identity, and legal status, while preserving the Palestinian presence and protecting the core tenets of the Palestinian national project.

Furthermore, the committee reiterated the urgency of intensifying Arab and international endeavors to defend Al-Qods Al-Sharif, safeguard its Islamic and Christian holy sites, and counter Israeli schemes aimed at imposing a new fait accompli in the city, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and international law.
