The Embassy of Algeria in Sarajevo Celebrates the 64th Anniversary of National Independence Day in the Presence of Bosnian Dignitaries and the National Community

In a national atmosphere filled with pride and dignity, the Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in Sarajevo celebrated the 64th anniversary of National Independence Day, under the slogan "Independence, a Legacy of Generations." The event was attended by His Excellence the Ambassador of Algeria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Mohammed Meraimi, the embassy staff, and an honorable gathering of the Algerian community residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Embassy was also honored by the presence of the Mayor of the Sarajevo-Centar Municipality, Mr. Irfan Čengić, accompanied by a number of his aides, as well as the Advisor to the Bosnian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Edin Hadžihafizbegovic, who insisted on sharing the joy of this glorious day with the Algerian people.

The ceremony commenced with the raising of the national flag and the playing of the Algerian national anthem, followed by the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha in memory of the glorious martyrs of the National Liberation Revolution. A wreath of flowers was then laid, followed by a minute of silence in tribute to their timeless sacrifices that paved the way for freedom and independence.

This occasion provided an opportunity to renew pride in the achievements made by Algeria thanks to the sacrifices of its people. It also offered a platform to strengthen bridges of communication with members of the national community, who took part in the celebration with a patriotic spirit reflecting their deep connection to their motherland and their pride in its glorious history.

On the sidelines of the celebration, His Excellence the Ambassador held a meeting with Mr. Irfan Čengić, in the presence of the Advisor to the Bosnian Minister of Foreign Affairs. Both sides discussed the distinguished historical relations linking Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and ways to enhance them across various fields. They also discussed prospects for implementing twinning projects between Algerian cities and their Bosnian counterparts, thereby contributing to expanding decentralized cooperation and exchanging expertise in economic, cultural, and tourism sectors.
