The Ambassador of Algeria to Bosnia and Herzegovina Pays a Working Visit to Tuzla Canton

His Excellency the Ambassador of Algeria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Mohammed Meraimi, paid a working visit on July 16 and 17, 2026, to Tuzla Canton, the country's third-largest canton and its most prominent regarding its industrial fabric and mining potential.

During this visit, the Ambassador held several working meetings with leading business executives from the region, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Vedran Lakić. He also conducted field visits to various public and private companies operating in the energy, mining, iron and steel, and building and public works (construction) sectors.

Furthermore, the Ambassador was received by the Mayor of Tuzla, Mr. Zijad Lugavić, in the presence of members of the municipal council. On this occasion, both sides held fruitful discussions on avenues to establish a twinning and cooperation agreement with an Algerian city in the near future.

At the headquarters of the Tuzla Canton Chamber of Commerce, the Ambassador held a working session with key economic operators in the pharmaceutical industry, attended by Minister Lakić and the President of the Chamber, Mr. Nedret Kikanović. The session was dedicated to presenting Algeria's potential in this sector and exploring partnership opportunities between the two sides in this vital field.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Ambassador, accompanied by Minister Lakić and the Mayor of Tuzla, laid a wreath of flowers at the memorial commemorating the 77 Bosnian children from Tuzla killed in a bombardment during the 1990s war. He also visited the city's oldest mosque and oldest church, exchanging talks with the custodians of these two historic religious sites while emphasizing the importance of fostering the values of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
