In a Deeply Symbolic Gesture in Sarajevo: A Tree Planted in the Name of Algeria at the Ambassadors' Alley in Memory of the Revolution Martyrs

On the occasion of Algeria's celebration of the 64th anniversary of Independence and Youth Day, and in a noble and deeply symbolic gesture, the local authorities of the Sarajevo-Centar Municipality invited His Excellency the Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Mohammed Meraimi, to participate alongside the Mayor of Sarajevo-Centar, Mr. Irfan Čengić, in a ceremony to plant a tree in the name of Algeria at the Ambassadors' Alley in the city of Sarajevo. This initiative aims to commemorate the memory of the glorious martyrs of the National Liberation Revolution, embody the values of loyalty and shared historical memory, and reaffirm the depth of the friendship linking Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Advisor to the Bosnian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Edin Hadžihafizbegovic, and the Director General of Energoinvest, Mr. Mirza Ustamujić, along with representatives of local authorities.
In his address on this occasion, the Mayor of Sarajevo-Centar, Mr. Irfan Čengić, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Algerian people, the embassy staff, and all members of the Algerian community residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Independence and Youth Day. He praised the depth of the historical relations uniting both nations, and the bonds of brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual respect connecting the two friendly peoples.
The Mayor further emphasized the feelings of esteem and pride that the Bosnian people hold for the Algerian people, recalling their historical sympathy with the Algerian Liberation Revolution, and highlighting the magnitude of sacrifices and heroism demonstrated by the Algerian people to achieve freedom and independence, which continue to serve as an inspiration for nations aspiring to freedom and dignity.
For his part, His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Maraymi thanked the local authorities of Sarajevo for this gracious initiative, which truly reflects the depth of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and embodies the mutual commitment to strengthening the bonds of solidarity and friendship between the brotherly Algerian and Bosnian peoples.
